BLUES: Bedford look forward to Barbarians battle
But first they face Aberavon in the British & Irish Cup
Tradition comes to Goldington Road on Tuesday when the Blues entertain the Barbarians in the annual Mobbs Memorial encounter.
The 83rd edition of the long-running fixture will see Mike Rayer's side attempt to make amends for their 76-45 defeat 12 months ago and it will be a strong home side that will take to the field.
"It's a unique occasion and we're delighted to have such a big traditional fixture," said Rayer.
"It's played for the right reasons, to help junior rugby in the East Midlands, and hoepfully we'll get a good crowd to come and watch what should be good game of rugby."
Rayer, who played four times in the famous black and white shirt and made his debut in the Mobbs fixture against the East Midlands at Franklin's Gardens, stressed that while it is a celbration of the game, he is keen to see his side perform.
He added: "It hurt losing by so many last year (76-45) and with a fit squad, it'll be 90 per cent Blues players involved. We'll stick to our structures and organisation, enjoy the game, try to win and if there is a chance to score we'll try to take it."
Tickets for the game, which kicks off at 7.45pm, are priced at 10 with U16s gaining free admission and early arrivals will receive a free programme.
Before the Baa-baas arrive, there is the small matter of the visit of Aberavon in the British & Irish Cup.
Defeat to London Welsh ended the Blues' chances of progressing in the tournament, but Rayer wants his charges to get back to winning ways.
He said: "There might be less pressure because we can't qualify, but we want to get last week out of the system.
"This will give us the chance to start with a number of players - Marco Cecere, Mike Howard, Gregor Gillanders, Chris Locke, Dan Seal - who have been coming off the bench recently.
"Myles Dorrian could start at 10 and Paul Tuapi at number eight. It'll be a bit mix and match with different combinations."
Saturday's game kicks off at the earlier time of 2pm with England's Six Nations clash against Ireland being shown in the bars from 4pm.
