Bell will fly nest despite City bid

Hatters boss reveals offers from Spurs and Forest

Despite some late interest from Coventry City, Championship rivals Norwich City were last night set to agree a deal for Hatters midfielder David Bell that could eventually see Town net around 750,000.

The Sky Blues, who have been tracking Bell since January, registered their interest once more late on, but boss Mick Harford is sure he is on his way to Carrow Road.

Harford said: "I spoke to Ray Ranson (Coventry chairman) and he asked me what was going on.

"They never came back with an improved offer. It will probably happen in the next 24 hours.

"David Bell has agreed personal terms and had his medical and is in Norwich at the moment preparing to sign.

"I think it's an opportunity for him. David stressed to me he didn't want to be at the club."

Harford also revealed that both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur have offered to loan them players.

He said: "I went to watch Tottenham's reserves play St Albans the other week and there were quite a few interesting players there.

"We are short on strikers and wide men, so we are looking to fill those areas."
