Bedford held to stalemate by Magpies

Bedford were held to a 0-0 draw by former National League side Harleston side in their East Men’s Hockey League Premier Division clash on Saturday.

The hosts began in positive fashion as Richard Evans and Simbarashe Chigwada all went close, while Lee Hogget also fired wide.

Bedford won a barrage of short corners but neither Evans or Chris Seward could fire home.

Alex Drummond made way for Matt Wilson, with Wilson combining nicely with Meredith and Stuart Robson as Bedford looked for the breakthrough.

In the second half, keeper and star man Simon Dolan was in inspired form, as he made a host of fine saves.

A dubious decision was made after Rob Tarrant stopped the ball on the line with his hand, as a long corner was awarded.

Green cards were also given to Robson and Meredith after some heavy tackles, as the game ended all square.
