Ampthill annihilate Luton

An unplayable opening burst from Ampthill Town's James Sneath and Chris Degnan helped condemn Luton Town and Indians to an eight-wicket defeat at Ampthill in Saracens Hertfordshire League Division Two on Saturday.

Town were skittled out for just 30 runs in 12.2 overs as Ampthill claimed victory before 2.30pm.

Prayag Katechia top scored with seven, while Sneath recored figures of 6-0-21-6 and Chris Degnan 6.2-2-9-3.

Ampthill Town eased to 32-2 in 8.5 overs, with Matthew Goss hitting an unbeaten 14.

Eversholt claimed a seven wicket win against Southgate Adelaide in Division Three.

Great bowling from Eversholt saw them skittle their opponents for just 78, with C Lyte (16) and N Watts (22no) the only batsmen to really trouble the scorers.

With the ball, S Avis led the way with figures of 13-7-19-4 and he was supported by W Garratt, 4.1-0-16-2, J Fuller, 7-2-16-3, and S Chaplin, 10-2-15-1.

Eversholt eased to victory for the loss of just three wickets as they scored 81, with D Ward 31 not out and B Nichols making an unbeaten 22.

Eversholt ensured an immediate return to Division Seven with a comfortable four-wicket defeat of Knebworth Park IVs in Division Eight.

The win also saw the Boars move into second place as they finished just three points behind league winners Chipperfield Clarendon IIIs.

With the threat of relegation hanging over them, Knebworth decided to bat first.

A fast start saw the 50 arrive in the first dozen overs before the introductions of leading wicket taker, Dave Garratt, and Mark Fuller, making his last appearance for the team, stunted the scoring.

Five consecutive maidens eventually brought a wicket for Fuller with the score on 68.

Ben Lewis brought up his 50 before a couple of wickets again slowed progress.

Ian Woods and Paul Bayford put on 50, increasing the rate as they did so, before wickets started to tumble.

Knebworth posted 205-8, with Paul Litchfield taking 3-36 and Fuller 2-50.

Eversholt scored quickly with wides and byes from the bowling of Darlow helping their cause.

At 70-4 after 20 overs they were struggling a little and, although Litchfield was scoring slowly, Rob Garratt (56) found reached 50 from 56 balls as he shared 86 for the fifth wicket.

Litchfield's departure for 41 brought in chairman Garratt who quickly found the middle of his bat and scored a rapid 45 not out.

And a Dean Lawson single brought up victory with 20 balls to spare.

A friendly to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Eversholt's game at Lord's in 2000 when the way of the team that played at the home of cricket as the beat Eversholt by two wickets.

Eversholt were all out for 172, with P Jani top scoring with 47.

He was well backed up by J Nichols (29), J Fuller (17) and L Singleton (19).

The wickets were shared around with D Garratt taking 3-35, D Turner 2-40, S Davis 2-9 and P Garratt 2-20.

The Lord's team sneaked home with 175-8. S Litchfield (53) led the way with other notable contributions coming from S Davis (20), W Davies (17) D Garratt (26) and R Garratt (26no).

S Chaplin took 2-21, L Singleton 2-34, S Avis 1-33 and R Girardi 1-34.
