The only Saturday game played by Ampthill Town CC was at Leverstock Green where the second XI had the better of a draw in a rain affected clash.
Having lost the toss, Ampthill batted first and, after getting off to a flyer, limped to 185-8 in 41 overs. Phil Clark top scored with 62 and Gavin Howson added 47.
Some hostile pace bowling from Robbie Thomas saw the home side lose early wickets and, at 100-6, victory was in sight.
However, an unbeaten 70 from Littlejohn almost saw the home side to victory – but they fell just short on 182-7 and a drawn game. Thomas finished with 3-38.
On Sunday, the first XI travelled to Southill Park and suffered a heavy loss by 165 runs.
Southill’s second wicket put on 117 as Collins hit 61 and Tomlinson-Patel 80.
The bowlers got on top late on and bowled out the home side in the last over for 219; Ben Bradley taking 4-27 and Henry Charter 3-32.
The Ampthill innings started poorly as they were reduced to 12-4. A brief partnership from Nunn and Charter gave some hope, but the tail was blown away and all out for 54 in the 27th over. Brasier took 3-13 for Southill.
The only other game saw the Ampthill Sunday second XI defeated at home by Sharnbrook by 13 runs.
Sharnbrook were asked to bat first in bowler friendly conditions but made the most of some poor bowling and many dropped catches.
Sharnbrook smashed their way to 191 a/o in just under 40 overs, Potter claiming 4-26 and Passman 3-45.
The batting reply started well as Archer and Presswell reached 90-0 off 18 overs.
However once Presswell departed for 29, only Archer and briefly Draycott got to grips with the bowling.
Draycott’s 15 was brief and Archer carried his bat for an unbeaten 92 as he saw four batsmen run out and the innings close on 178.
