Staffordshire go through to Minor Counties final
Bedfordshire slumped to a 97 run defeat against Staffordshire in the Minor Counties Trophy semi-final at Kynpersley yesterday.

Having won the toss, Beds decided to bowl and with Staffs openers Peter Wilshaw and Jack Manuel going cheaply (28-2), third man David Wheeldon made 67 off 83 balls and with more runs added by Liam Hughes (26), Mo Shiek (26) and Craig Barker (33), they finally reached an all out total of 237, Chris Goode taking 3-67, Andy Roberts 2-29 and Marc Jackson 2-34.

In reply openers Jon Walford (28) and James Knott (20) got off to a solid start with Cameron Wake (17), Daniel Bendon (23) and skipper Oliver Clayson (17) pushing the score along although Beds were always behind the required run rate and they were finally dismissed for 140 with Craig Barker (4-36) and Liam Hughes (3-24) the pick of the Staffordshire bowlers.
