Young football players took part in a remembrance match, raising £280 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The match between Wootton Blue Cross U13 youth football club against Woburn Lions U13s is an annual event.

Both teams were fiercely competitive on the day and Woburn was the first to score. Undeterred the Wootton boys kept pushing and got one back but soon after Wootton conceded a penalty and Woburn went 2-1 up.

With five minutes to go the Wootton manager pushed the top defenders forward to centre midfield and minutes from the final whistle they scored.

After five penalties each the teams were still level and the match went to sudden death with the Wootton boys claiming the cup.

The final score was 9-8 to Wootton Blue Cross.

Afterwards a reception was held for both teams and spectators where volunteers served teas, coffees and afternoon nibbles.
