Young Arsenal fan Eddie Gallagher and his dad Steve met the club’s vice-captain Per Mertesacker at the annual Gunners’ Play Day held at the Emirates Stadium.
One-year-old Eddie was among 150 Junior Gunners enjoying an afternoon full of fun including soft play, music, dancing, fun arts and crafts to skills sessions with Arsenal Soccer School.
Per surprised the youngsters and took time out to have a photo taken with every child and their enthusiastic parents.
The Arsenal defender said: “This is such a fantastic event and I’ve really enjoyed meeting some of the club’s youngest supporters and their parents. Events like these are so important to help these children feel part of the club and develop a real love for football and Arsenal.”
Eddie’s father Steve said: “Eddie really enjoyed the day and it was great to introduce him to the Arsenal World, throughout the journey home he kept saying ‘Goal’ and ‘Cuddle Dinosaur’.”
