A University of Bedfordshire dance student performed live on television in Italy over the summer.

Donatella Greco, aged 20, who studies dance and professional practice at the uni, was spotted by talent scouts while on a family holiday in Italy.

She was invited to take part in a competition called Ragazza Cinema OK, which included a Bollywood-style dance piece.

Donatella, known as Dona, finished in the top three for her region, which saw her progress to the final live on TV.

Held in Caserta in southern Italy, the final saw Dona dance in front of a live studio and TV audience, winning the Premio Speciale della Stampa (Special Prize of the Press) trophy.

Back in the UK, Dona, who lives in Bedford, received a phone call from the competition organiser, inviting her back to perform again on live TV in December.

Senior dance lecturer Sadie Hunt said: “Donatella is a naturally able dancer and performer who also has an excellent work ethic. She is a brilliant student. We are incredibly proud of Donatella and her achievements.”
