A Bedford man is travelling to Ohio in the United States to compete in a tough fitness challenge.

Mark Allen will be competing in the Obstacle Course Race World Championships representing Team UK in the men’s 40-44 age category at the race on Saturday, October 17. The qualifying criteria covers a number of races across the globe and Mark chose to go for qualification through the Spartan Race held in the UK where he needed to be within the top 20 in his category at one of the races. Mark managed to reach 10th in his group at the Spartan Stadium Sprint in May and fifth place during the Spartan Race in Glanusk Park, Wales in June. Mark, pictured in Wales, said: “I am able to undertake this opportunity thanks to the support of my employer, Bluechip Customer Engineering, who are based in Bedford and Celebrate Health and Fitness, a personal training company based in Milton Keynes.
