A woman was sexually assaulted as she walked home from a night out in Bedford.

The victim was approached by a man after she crossing the bridge from Midland Road towards Queens Park between 1.30am and 3.30am on Friday (December 18).

He grabbed her and sexually assaulted her but she managed to push him away and run off.

The offender is described as Asian, in his late 20s to early 30s, 5ft 9in, slim with a slight beard and moustache.

Detective Constable Chris Avery, investigating, said: “This was a concerning incident which has left the victim very shaken.

“She had been returning from a night out so the timings are very sketchy at present, but I would urge anyone who was in this area during the relevant times and saw anyone matching the description to call police.”

Anyone with any information should call DC Avery on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
