Woman seriously injured in accident involving lorry in Bedford airlifted to hospital

A woman suffered serious injuries in an accident in Bedford today (Monday, February 2).

The air ambulance was called to take the woman to hospital after the incident in Midland Road at about 10am.

East Anglian Air Ambulance Anglia Two medics Dr Jayne McKinlay and critical care paramedic Chris Neil were called to the incident in town.

The team arrived on the scene at around 10.30am to treat a female in her 50s who had been in a road traffic accident involving a lorry and suffered a life changing injury to her arm.

The team provided treatment on scene before airlifting her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

She is said to be in a serious condition.

Midland Road, Brereton Road and Alexandra Road were all closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

PC Stefanie Crichton said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision or either

the pedestrian or lorry prior to it, to call police.”
