Police are appealing for witnesses after an arson attack at McDonald’s in High Street, Bedford.

The incident happened last Saturday (November 21), between 4.30pm and 5pm, in the men’s toilets on the first floor of the restaurant.

Two men entered the toilets and placed a plastic sign behind a locked cubicle door before setting fire to it, causing extensive damage.

Detective Constable Surinder Ram, investigating, said: “This had the potential to cause a very serious hazard, as during the time of the offence the restaurant was full of customers who had to be evacuated.

“Dangerous and criminal behaviour like this will not be tolerated and we are appealing for the public’s help in finding those responsible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Ram on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
