Winning girls bring home football trophy

Following the frenzy around the England football team beating Germany into fourth place in the Women’s World Cup, the next squad of talent are in training at Kempston.

Girls from AFC Kempston won the Under 14s People’s Cup at Manchester and were presented with their cup at half-time at the Wembley FA Cup Final.

Such is the talent of the girls of AFC Kempston that they have bagged the league for the fifth year running winning all their games, scoring 144 goals and letting in only five. They also won the league Futsal tournament and both the league and county cups.

Nationally, the England women’s football team finished third in the World Cup and beat Germany for the first time in 31 years.

The performance was the second best by an England team following the 1966 win by the men’s side
