Bedford’s historic Charter Market on Wednesday, February 5 has been cancelled as strong winds are forecast.

The decision was made following discussions with the traders, who bring a variety of stalls to the town each week.

A spokeswoman for Bedford Borough Council said: “With heavy rain, strong winds and gusts of up to 50mph forecast by the Met Office for tomorrow (Wednesday 5th February), we have taken the decision to cancel the Charter Market in Bedford town centre, following discussion with market traders.”

Markets are currently planned to take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as normal.
