VIDEO: Cooking up a treat at Rajkot
The Entertainer team learn the secrets of the popular High Street restaurant
When it comes to eating out, Bedford's multi-cultural mix really comes to the fore.
And the Times & Citizen's bi-monthly magazine The Entertainer has begun a series of visits to restaurants across the town to sample their delicacies and to learn the tips of the trade.
For this month's edition we visited the Rajkot in Bedford High Street.
Owner Bharat Lakha said: "The Rajkot is all about good food.
"We have Indian staff who come to work here on work permits, who use genuine Indian ingredients and Indian recipes.
"Our twist is that we present it in a tapas style. The chefs are always trying different things."
The Rajkot will celebrate its fifth birthday next month, and either Bharat or his dad Sam are at the restaurant most nights.
Bhrata added: "My favourite part is seeing everything all come together - the sights, the smell of the food, and the atmosphere.
"We have a lot of regulars who keep coming back so it is a very sociable place to eat - and it is very sociable place to work too!"
The Entertainer is available now, with free copies in the Times & Citizen offices and in other selected outlets across town.
As well as our Rajkot review, the September edition includes interviews, reviews, and features on music, fashion and the theatre.
