UPDATE: Emergency services at the scene after aircraft crashes in Bedfordshire field and cuts power to hundreds of homes

Firefighters and ambulance staff are now at the scene after a light aircraft crashed in a farmer's field in Oakley, causing hundreds of homes to lose their electricity supply.

It is believed that the incident happened this afternoon when the plane hit a power line.

Seven or eight fire engines, plus ambulances and paramedics, are now at the scene.

Utility firm E.On have been approached for comment.
