A large gathering of UKIP followers met at The Keep in Kempston for the Mid-Beds branch annual dinner.

Attending the dinner were the controversial party’s deputy chairman and member of the national executive committee Suzanne Evans and the three prospective parliamentary candidates - Charlie Smith, standing in Bedford and Kempston, Adrianne Smyth, standing in North East Beds and Nigel Wickens, standing in Mid-Beds.

In Bedford Borough, UKIP came first with more than 40 per cent of the votes in the recent EU elections and this, combined with victories resulting in UKIP’s first two MPs, has greatly encouraged the local branch. With a Bedford Conservative majority of 1,353 next May’s election promises to be exciting.
