The music of Glenn Miller and the big band era can be enjoyed at an afternoon concert in Milton Ernest.
The Ian Bufton Big Band is a 21-piece group which gave its premier performance in April last year and is made up of musicians from Bedfordshire, surrounding counties and London.
The young band will covering arrangements by Glenn Miller, Harry James and Benny Goodman through to modern day works and compositions of Gordon Goodwin, Rob McConnell and Bob Curnow as well as compositions and arrangements from members of the band.
The music can be heard at Milton Ernest Village Hall on Sunday, July 13 at 3pm.
The band’s musical director, Ian Bufton, actively looks to encourage young, talented and upcoming musicians to play in the band to keep the old and new big band style music alive and train them up alongside the more experienced players in the band.
Their current library contains the music of a number of composers, as well as some National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) charts kindly donated to the band by NYJO founder Bill Ashton.
Formed in 2012 the band has female and male vocalists and plays a wide variety of big band, jazz, swing and dance band music in the region.
Admission is £5, with children under 16 admitted free.
