Top honour for legion stalwart

A long-serving Royal British Legion member has been presented with one of the organisation’s top honours.

Joyce Shrubbs MBE, from Cranfield, was given the Life Membership Award during a special ceremony at Bedford’s Swan Hotel on Tuesday.

Chairman of Bedfordshire County Royal British Legion Eric Robinson MBE said: “Mrs Shrubbs is truly a most worthy recipient of this prestigious recognition, having served in a variety of posts at both branch and county level for over 40 years.”

She is currently the county vice president of the legion in Bedfordshire.

The award was presented by Bedfordshire Vice Lord Lieutenant Colonel Colin Mason. TheHigh Sheriff of Bedfordshire Lady Erroll and Bedford Mayor Dave Hodgson also attended the ceremony along withMrs Shrubb’s family and friends who were invited to see her receive the honour.
