Water way to change the world
Daveyboyz to make a documentary about the work of charity One
A film-maker from Flitwick is off to Africa to take part in an "emotio-nal journey", which will change the lives of some of the world's poorest children.
The Times & Citizen featured YouTube star David Bass, aka Daveyboyz, last year when his internet video success gave him the chance to meet The Queen and led to talks with television company Hat Trick Productions.
Now the 22-year-old, of Water Lane, Flitwick, is travelling to South Africa at the beginning of March to make a documentary about the work of charity One.
One raises money to ins-tall water pumps in poor African nations by selling bottled water in shops in the UK and giving 100 per cent of the profit to the appeal.
Mr Bass said: "When you buy a drink here you are buying a drink for someone in Africa.
"I'll be visiting the different villages and watching the communities go from having no water for miles to having water within the settlement and experience the emotional journey.
"I'm very scared but I thought it would be such an amazing opportunity, it's quite daunting."
The former Redborne Upper School pupil flies to Johannesburg in early March and will then face a five hour journey to get to one of the country's poorest areas.
He added: "School days are only an hour long in many of these places
because it is too hot and the children quickly become dehydrated.
"Getting water will be life changing."
The finished video will then be used on the One website, Mr Bass's YouTube page and may be used by the charity for its next television campaign.
