The top 10 reads: how many have you ploughed through?

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown has been voted as the favourite book by people in the South East according to new research.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis takes second spot followed by Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell

The South East’s top three series of books include Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and The Millennium Trilogy.

And when people read a good book, they don’t just read it once. The research revealed that A.A Milne’s Winnie the Pooh is the most re-read book with an average of four reads per person.

The research carried out by an eye drops company discovered that people in the south east spend more than three hours a day reading which is slightly longer than the than the national average of 184 minutes.

But that’s not all spent reading books - people say they are scanning blogs and reading online articles for longer.

When it comes to our favourite books, men prefer a modern classic rating Nineteen Eighty-Four as their favourite, whilst women choose a traditional classic putting Jane Eyre in top place.
