SLIDESHOW: Bromham Apple Day
Annual event attracts 3,000 visitors
Core-blimey, there was some fruity action at Bromham Mill last weekend as the village celebrated its 18th annual Apple Day.
The ap-peeling day attracted a tree-mendous 3,000 visitors to the ancient mill for some apple bobbing, pressing, identification and a host of family based activities and games on Sunday (October 19).
Some super ciders were on offer from Campaign For Real Ale, while children could enjoy puppet shows and a traditional Bedford clanger.
The event is designed to celebrate the tantalising taste of the great British apple. Lorraine Daley, one of the organisers, said: "Everybody seems to have enjoyed it, the feedback is always positive and it is no different this year.
"Apple Day seems to go from strength to strength. We had about 3,000 people come, it was not quite the heatwave we had last year, but we had just as many people and may be slightly up.
"I think it is such a success because it is put on by local people, all the stalls are local producers and there is nothing commercial."
She added: "The highlight this year was the dog show. As there was not room for the sheepdogs to herd sheep, we did it with geese, which was great fun."
