A PUB that was run-down and on the verge of being sold has been turned around by father and daughter team Gemma and Jim Morrison.
The Foresters Arms, based in Union Street, is fast building up a reputation for being the best sports pub in Bedford, and Gemma and Jim are encouraging new customers to visit them on the Eage Ale Trail.
The traditional watering hole is one of the only pubs in Bedford that has a 3D television to show sports games, including football, rugby and boxing.
Gemma, 26, and her dad Jim, 55, took over the running of the pub 18 months ago, and in the first year saw a 67 per cent increase in their takings
Gemma said: “We’ve put a lot of hard work in, we completely revamped the garden and it’s a really nice area now. In the summer it;s really nice for people to watch the football outside.
“When we took on the pub, it was in a bit of a state and was on the verge of being sold, but I think we have managed to turn it around.
“We are building up quite a good repuation for the our sport. I think that’s what makes us stand out from other pubs.
“It didn’t really hit me how popular we were until we showed the Westham final against Blackpool and the bar was absolutely rammed.
“We have a lot of regulars, but we do attract new customers, and since the Westham game we have seeing a lot more new faces.”
