Plenty of activities planned to celebrate Black History Month
October is Black History Month, with a whole host of events taking place across Bedford Borough.
Photographer June Essex was at the official launch event on Friday night at Moggerhanger Park, which featured singing, poetry and a play.
And this week has also seen a performance of Gospel In The Pub at Bedford’s Mile Road Club, a visit by the Jamaica Diaspora UK regional tour to Luton, plus the Black History Quiz at the White Horse pub in Newnham Avenue, Bedford.
Other highlights over the coming weeks will include a Black History Month Awareness Day at Bedford market on Sunday, plus performances of soul, jazz, gospel, drumming and hip-hop through the ages on October 25.
And in November there will be an event on the history of migration to Bedford at All Saints Church, Queens Park, on November 8, and a gospel celebration at Bedford School on November 24.
