No more waste for centre

A suspension notice has been issued by the Environment Agency to Woods Recycling Services Ltd in Ampthill.

The notice has been made following breaches of its permit and a localised fire, which burned for a number of days at the end of February. The notice stops the company taking any more waste into its site at Station Road, Ampthill Industrial Estate with immediate effect.

The company is also required to create adequate fire breaks at least 4metres wide within the waste piles to stop the spread of any flames, and restricts the size of each pile of waste by March 29.

By the same date, the company also has to clear waste from the old access to the site and install adequate security fencing to secure the site.

The notice was served on Monday.
