Library sweeps supermarket cash

CHILDREN’S activities at Bedford Central Library were given a £500 boost with a supermarket’s donation.

The money came from the Tesco Metro store in Midland Road, and will provide additional help towards library events.

Councillor Doug McMurdo, portfolio holder for leisure and culture at Bedford Borough Council, said: “I am pleased to accept this money which will provide extra help towards activities planned for the children’s library.

“Family friendly library events are very important to us; we already have some great ideas for using this financial support and will work to ensure that as many children can enjoy it as possible.”
