Vikings at Risleye Fete

A Viking invasion was one of the highlights of Riseley Village Fete, when a mob of unruly Scandinavians landed on Saturday.

Members of the Wryngwyrm re-enactment group led the entertainment at the annual event, with demonstrations of their sword-wielding skills.

Other attractions included Mike's Line Dancing, a jive dance display, a talk from the Oakley Hunt, and the chance to ride quad bikes.

Residents Bill Smith and Tony Cerasale built Play Your Cards Right and Spring Arrow games, while Barbara Owen and her husband Stuart led a dog show.

Roy Willis, chairman of the fete committee, said: "It was another great event, and the weather was very good.

"We are already looking forward to next year's fete."
