Jackets off - this is spuddy brilliant
Flitton potato race revived last weekend
The future may be bright but the past is potato-shaped in Flitton, after a traditional race was resurrected on Sunday.
The Flitton Potato Race took runners on a one-mile course between The Compass pub in Greenfield to The White Hart in Flitton.
And after junior and youth heats earlier in the day, 19 runners lined up to tackle the course in aid of the Church of St John the Baptist.
Organiser Simon Salder said: "I have to say ten out of ten to everyone who took part in the heat. It was great fun and everyone really entered into the spirit of it – one chap who came to watch had a couple of pints and decided he was going to run it, too.
"The history of the race goes back to the 1930s, and we decided to revive it this year.
"I'd also like to thank Isle of Ely Produce and Flitton Hill Organic Farm Shop who provided all the spuds for the races."
