Older people were celebrated at a festival opened by local television actor Robert Daws.

The star, who has appeared on ITV’S The Royal and Coronation Street, officially opened the Full of Life Festival for Older People along with Councillor Angela Barker, chairman of Central Bedfordshire Council.

The event was organised by a joint partnership with Aragon Housing Association and Central
Bedfordshire Council.

Steve Nash, community development officer at Aragon, said: “We were delighted that Robert Daws could come along and help us celebrate life in
retirement.

“Once again we’ve had a fantastic turn out and proved that you don’t have to be young to enjoy living a life to the full.”

Over 250 older people attended and celebrated the festival’s theme of “sharing the skills and experiences of different generations”.

35 different service providers attended the festival and provided help and information from such diverse subjects as NHS health checks to hand massage and nail care.

There were demonstrations on stage of line dancing, belly dancing, a community dance machine and the ‘fit as a fiddle’ older people’s exercise group.

A Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning was also held as part of the event.
