A FAMILY has paid tribute to a father and husband who was killed in a lorry crash on the M6 last week.
Scott Bridges, 45, of The Avenue, Flitwick, was killed when the lorry he was driving collided with another lorry on the motorway in Warwickshire, between junction one and the exit for the A14, last Monday morning.
This week his brother Dean and sister-in-law Ellen Bridges, who live in Maulden, described Scott as “irreplaceable”.
Dean, 43, said: “The whole family is absolutely gutted, it is only a year since we lost our mother, so this has now come on top of that.
“Last year was really rough, we had eight deaths in the family, and now Scott. I didn’t think it could get any worse, but it has. I just can’t believe he has gone.
“My dad is devastated, he was very close to Scott, he just can’t understand it.”
Scott, who also had another younger brother called Nathan, was brought up in Flitwick and Milton Keynes and originally worked as a baker before he switched to lorry driving around 18 years ago.
He met his wife Ree around 17 years ago and the couple lived in Flitwick with their four children Joshua, Ryan, Sam and Paul.
Ellen, 51, said: “He was a very private person, he loved his gardening, his kids and his music. He loved heavy metal and Elvis Presley.
“He kept himself to himself, but he lived for those boys.”
Dean added: “He would do anything for you if you asked him to.
“The whole family is just in shock at the moment, we are a big family and we are trying to be there for each other as much as we can.
“When I found out, I just collapsed. I felt so numb. He is going to leave a massive hole, he’s irreplaceable.”
Scott’s funeral is taking place at Bedford Crematorium at 12.15pm on Friday, June 29.
