Dig deep to help fund 1,000 new trees

A CAMPAIGN to plant 1,000 new trees across Bedford Borough has begun.

The Bedford Tree Fund aims to raise £10,000 for the campaign, which could see thesaplings in the ground by 2014.

The registered charity is targetting local residents and businesses, and has already supported the planting and maintenance of over 1,200 additional trees across the borough.

Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson, said: “Bedford Borough Council maintains more than 24,000 trees which help to make our urban and rural areas more green and attractive places in which to live, work and visit.
