BIG-hearted staff at Roni’s Car Wash are set to hand over a whole day’s takings this weekend to a charity that provides food to local people in need.

The firm in Brickhill Drive will give all their takings on Wednesday, February 8 to the Bedford Foodbank, which has people in crisis referred to it by agencies from across the area.

Foodbank volunteer Simon Badman said: “The car wash in next door to Brickhill Baptist Church, and there’s been a link between the two for some time now.

“They approached the church and said they wanted to do something to help one of its charities, and this just seemed like a great way to do that.”

The Bedford Foodbank is part of a UK-wide network, and takes donations of non-perishable food within its sell-by date.

Simon added: “We are getting a steady number of donations, but we are getting a rising number of people referred to us too.”
