Church Arcade facelift
New look for town centre arcade
A shopping arcade in Bedford town centre has been given a facelift.
Church Arcade was officially re-opened by Mayor of Bedford on Monday, after work commissioned by the Metropolitan and County Group, which holds the freehold and long leasehold interest in the site, and Bedford Borough Council.
The most striking aspect of the renovation is a cover above the entrance on Harpur Street, which features names of prominent sportsmen and sportswomen from Bedford.
Martin Hay, director of MCB Ltd which is part of the Metropolitan and County Group, said: "We are proud to have facilitated this renovation of an historic part of Bedford.
"We have used local project managers and builders to achieve a major renovation."
