Mark Etherden (left), 27, and Martin Holsten, 40, both made it through qualifiers for the Mr Britain competition held in Nottingham with impressive results.

Mark came second in the light-heavyweight category at the Mansfield Classic at the beginning of the month, while Martin, who was up against proven competition, came third in the seniors class.

Martin was pipped at the post by the current senior Mr Universe and a previous Mr Britain, also in the senior class.

Watching the show was Dorian Yates, six-times Mr Olympia, along with Ernie Taylor who is currently one of the top ten body-builders in the world.

The pair, who have been training together for seven years, flexed their muscles for the Gazette s photographer this week.

They are currently trying to keep their bodies in tip-top condition to impress the judges at the Mr Britain at Nottingham s Royal Concert Hall on October 15.

Mark and Martin, who both train at The Gym in West Street, Dunstable, must be placed in the top six finalists at the Mr Britain competition to have a chance at the Mr World title.
