The Harrold Pit Run returns this weekend

Leading enterprise hub Colworth Park will sponsor the Harrold Pit run, taking place this Saturday.

The annual charity sporting event began in 1983 and is at the heart of the village community.

It provides a great day for villagers and visitors while helping to raise money for village charities.

Each year charity funds are raised via runner sponsorship, trade stalls and attractions set up on the village green on the day.

Four races will figure - from kids races to a 5K race around the village of Harrold and surrounding countryside.

More than 400 runners have already registered to take part in the races – a mix of fun-runners, fancy-dressers and serious PB hunters alike will all ‘get set’ at the start line at 3pm.

“Our sponsors are very important to us, without them we wouldn’t be able have the rides, activities and entertainment that make this day so special,” said Tina Pritchett, committee member of the Harold Pit Run.

“We’re delighted to have Colworth Park as a sponsor this year. Their support enables us to put on a memorable day for the community and raise funds for lots of great local charities.”

Keith Purdie, Business Development Manager, said: “We’re very proud to sponsor this event and know it’s a real calendar highlight for the Harrold community. We’ll be down there on the day to show our support and cheer everyone on.”

“It’s a great opportunity for us to get to know the community,” Keith added.

“We’re also hoping to see some of the runners at the Colworth Marathon in June!”

Various stalls and attractions on the green - including a Bouncy Castle and Maze Run on The Lower Green - will feature on the day alongside craft stalls and a cider tent, and there will be live music from Victoria Rose.

Villagers will also be able to show off their kitchen skills at The Great Pit Run Bake Off.
