He took part in the race to celebrate his Godparents Julie Waddington and Alan Darby, which was held within the school site and adjoining Bedford Athletics Rugby Club.

The charity fundraiser saw hundreds of pupils from year 7 to the 6th form, along with teachers, taking part.

Luke stunned the teachers and the P.E department by winning the overall race and then running back to help his friends complete the race, held after school on June 30.

As well as coming first, the teenager also donated £50 of his pocket money for the research into the disease.
