Teenage girl raped in Bedford park

Girl attacked by man on Saturday night

A 14-year-old girl raped in Bedford's Jubilee Park on Saturday evening.

The incident happened as the teenager was walking home along the pathway leading across Jubilee Park towards Oak Road at around 11pm.

She was approached by a man she describes as a black male, possibly in his 20s.

He asked her where she was going and she replied that she was on her way home. The man then forced her to have intercourse with him.

The girl then managed to struggle free from him and ran off.

The victim was a mixed race girl with a dark complexion, 5ft 5ins tall, with shoulder-length curly hair.

Her attacker was 6ft tall, of muscular build, with goatee beard and with a diamond stud in his right earlobe.

He was wearing a black NY cap, black Nike tracksuit top and black trousers.

Det Con Gemma Ebberson, investigating, said: "This is a terrible attack on a young girl.

"If anyone was in the Jubilee Park area on Saturday evening and saw this man we'd like to hear from them.

"Did anyone see this young girl crossing the park at around 11pm or after the attack. If anyone thinks they know this man they should contact us immediately."

Anyone with information can contact DC Gemma Ebberson on 01582 473410, or text to 07786 200011 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
