Teenage girl receives serious head injury playing rugby

A teenage girl is in a serious but stable condition after suffering a head injury during a game a rugby.

The EEAST Ambulance service was called to Bedford Athletic Rugby Club, Wentworth Drive, at 6.18pm on Friday (October 8).

At 7pm, Magpas Helimedix Doctor Steve Corry-Bass and Paramedic Simon Standen arrived in the Magpas Rapid Response BMW, where they were requested to meet with an EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew who were on route to hospital with the patient.

The Magpas team assessed the young woman and anaesthetised her, before accompanying her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance.

On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.
