A series of spectacular summer events are being held at Wrest Park in Silsoe during the summer to keep the whole family entertained.

Every week during the holidays there will be different events for children of all ages, including hands-on historical adventures, an archaeological dig and adventures in the vast gardens.

The programme kicks off with Victorian Explorers from Monday, July 25 and it is followed by the Ugly Bug Safari which runs from Monday, August 1.

For children who love to get their hands dirty, Awesome Archaeology kicks off on Monday, August 8.

The Garden Explorers events, which run from Monday, August 15, will give younger generations the chance to explore the gardens, hear stories about famous gardeners from the past and then get crafty using foliage found in the grounds.

Nature Detectives takes place from Monday, August 22 when children will find out more about England’s native creatures and say hello to some of Wrest Park’s smallest neighbours.

Debbie Houldsworth, events manager at English Heritage, said: “We’ve got a fantastic variety of activities and events throughout the summer holidays to keep families entertained and children amused. Each week there’ll be something new to see and do, so come along and join us this summer for a great day out or two.”

English Heritage will round off the summer at Wrest Park with its Bank Holiday Bands weekend, when the Woburn Sands Band and Hitchin Band will be entertaining visitors on Sunday, August 28 and Monday, August 29.
