Bedford and Kempston MP Patrick Hall to chair public meeting

A public question and answer session with the 'key players' in the Bedford station quarter redevelopment is set to take place.

The meeting will be chaired by Bedford MP Patrick Hall, and will take place next Thursday, March 18, at the Guru Ravi Dass Centre, starting at 7.15pm.

There will be an opportunity for members of the public to air their views and ask questions to the people who are planning and organising the redevelopment works.

Mr Hall said: "The regeneration of the area around Bedford station, including a new station itself, is really important to local people and to our county town.

"I am delighted that all the key players continue to take the views of the residents seriously and remain committed to investing in the local economy."

The meeting will include speeches from John Nicholson, chairman of the station area 'working party' and Paul Vann from Bedford Borough Council's economic development and growth.

There will also be presentations from Richard Hickman of Halcrow consultants and Andy Parker from Network Rail.

All of the speakers will take part in a question and answer session at the meeting in order to ease concern and find out what residents think of the scheme. Representatives from First Capital Connect will also be attending.

The Guru Ravi Dass Centre is off Ashburnham Road opposite Bedford railway station.

Free parking will be provided for members of the public attending the meeting.

What do you think of the proposed changes to Bedford Station Quarter? Does Bedford need a new railway station?
