Newly-crowned 2014 European Young Jazz Artist of the Year The Elliot Galvin Trio will be appearing in the popular Jazz@The Ent Shed series on Thursday, December 4.
Elliot Galvin is a London-based pianist and composer. His trio is completed with Tom McCredie on bass and Simon Roth on drums.
Earlier this year they were awarded the Musician’s Benevolent Fund’s development award followed by the European award in Germany, where they opened the Burghausen International Jazz Festival.
Their debut album Dreamland has received rave reviews with the Guardian calling it ‘audaciously accomplished’.
They deliver a performance that balances technical virtuosity, a healthy dose of fun and playfulness as well as moments of captivating beauty.
Supporting Elliot is The Mark Pringle Trio, also led by one of the most accomplished young pianists to be on the scene.
His individual approach to his instrument and his improvisations at such a young age baffles most audiences.
The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available at http://jazzattheentshed.wee bly.com at £8, or on the door for £10.
Under 18s are allowed in for free on the door with a full paying adult and there is also a jam from 10.30pm.
