New community sports facilities at a development off Norse Road are now complete and ready for action.

To celebrate the grand opening, representatives from Orbit Homes were joined by Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, who marked the occasion by cutting a ribbon and declaring the new sports pitch and pavilion at the Aspire scheme officially open.

Available for use by residents and the wider community, the new sports facilities include a football pitch and a pavilion which offers changing rooms and showers, as well as refreshments and parking.

Paul High, Orbit’s executive director of property investment, said: “Sports and games are a great way to bring people together and we hope the new pitch and pavilion create a thriving centre of activity for the Aspire community.

“We are also keen to hear from local sports clubs who may be interested in using the pavilion and pitch on a regular basis.”

Mr Hodgson said: “It’s great to see the sports pitch and pavilion completed and open for use by the community. Bedford has a proud sporting culture which is founded on participation and enjoyment, and these new facilities for the Aspire estate will enhance that even further.”

The development includes 321 homes through a mix of market sale, shared ownership and affordable rent.

Aspire is due to be fully completed later this summer with all homes now reserved. To find out more about Orbit Homes’ developments in Bedford, visit www.orbithomes.org.uk
