Members of the Community and Voluntary Service ‘Splash’ swimathon team have presented the Tibbs Dementia Foundation with a cheque for £617.75 – the charity of their choice for funds raised at the Rotary Club of Bedford swimathon event held last year.
Helen Hall, Jane Owen and David Whitmore joined the Paddlers 4 Memory swimmers at Kempston Pool for one of their sessions before handing over the cheque to Sarah Russell, chief executive Director of Tibbs Dementia Foundation.
Helen, who brought the team together after promoting the event on the Voluntaryworks website last year, said: “It has been a privilege to join the swimmers and see first-hand just how beneficial groups such as Paddlers 4 memory are to those affected by dementia. We are delighted to have been able to help fund their activities this year.
“From planning, to taking part and now participating in the group, the team – drawn from the different projects within CVS – has engaged first hand and at a grass-roots level, in the different aspects of their charities’ work. It has been a rewarding experience.”
