Arpan Sekhon, who completed her A levels at Sharnbrook Upper School this summer has been awarded UK’s 2014 Student of the year by Foresters. She was also one of 150 students across the UK short-listed and awarded the Foresters Scholarship to help pay for her education at Aston University.
Arpan, Sharnbrook, has been extremely active in local community, carrying out around 700 hours of community service/volunteering in the last 24 months. In addition to raising money for various local and national charities, she also helped a national charity which organises annual youth camps for children, She also volunteered working for Bedford based charity Guru Nanak Gurdwara in running free Punjabi language classes for children. At the age of 14 she completed her A levels in Punjabi with grade A and since then she has helped many children to learn and speak Punjabi.
