Bromham parish councillor Barrie Hyde, 61, has just published his second book, My Enemy’s Enemy.
His first – A Higher Authority – came out last year and he’s already working on the third in the series about a quasi government body called The Organisation.
The father-of-two credits Bedford Writers Circle with his success.
He says: “I started writing as a cathartic response to being put on the scrap heap by my employers, after 33 years in the commercial world.
“I decided to learn about the craft and they have been inspirational in turning whatever talent I have into some semblance of order.”
The self-deprecating author, who presented The 70s Album Show on BBC 3CR for nine years, claims he’s a frustrated rock star who failed absymally through lack of talent.
He aims to write 1,000 words a day but admits: “On a bad day, find myself on Facebook.”
