A stripped-down plane revealed its flight recorder and on-board computers to scouts at Luton Aiport.

Seventy members of the Flitwick Scout Group visited the Thomson hangar as part of their their Air Activities badge.

The group also looked round a second aircraft and went in the cockpit, sat in first class, and learnt about cabin pressure. They were also shown the engines and fuel tanks.

Nine-year-old Rosie said: “It was great to be able to go into the cockpit and see the controls. I thought it would be bigger.”

She added: “Since I’ve been a Cub I’ve been camping, done backwoods cooking, rafting, climbing, been in the storage freezers at Tesco and held mini-beasts.” For details on joining the scouts go to www.flitwickscoutgroup.org.uk
