Supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has confirmed plans to open a convenience store in Great Denham, which will create up to 25 new jobs.

The store is included within the David Wilson Homes’ proposal for the new District Centre in Saxon Way, which also includes three other shop units.

A planning application has been submitted to Bedford Borough Council.

It is proposed that the Sainsbury’s Local would be open from 7am to 11pm and while plans allow for parking at the front of the District Centre, it is expected that most will walk from their nearby homes.

Regional acquisitions manager Robin Ockendon said: “We believe the new Sainsbury’s Local will be of great benefit to the area, by creating new job opportunities and providing local residents with a convenient place to shop.”
