Councillor Dave Lewis, leader of the Labour group at Bedford Borough Council, died on Monday morning
Councillor Dave Lewis has died.
Mr Lewis, leader of the Labour group at Bedford Borough Council, died on Monday morning.
It is believed that that he was taken into hospital with chest pains on Sunday night but died on Monday morning.
Mr Lewis was first elected to the council in May 1984.
His colleague, Councillor Mohammad Yasin said: "We have lost a great leader and a great man. He was such a wonderful guy.
"For me it was completely out of the blue. He looked well when I last saw him and was in good spirits.
"I am shocked, I just don't know what to say."
