A 100 metre cordon was put in place

Residents were evacuated from their properties yesterday (Thursday) after a builder accidentally dug into a gas pipe.

Fire crews were called to the incident involving a domestic gas pipeline on Mill Road, Sharnbrook just after 7am.

A 100 metre cordon was put in place while Cadent engineers capped the pipeline.

A couple of hours later, residents were allowed back and the road closure was lifted.
